
Revive Home Repair Grant
A Home Repair Grant for Michigan Homeowners
We want to see our community thrive, which is why we offer the Revive Home Repair Grant through FHLBank Indianapolis. This program helps eligible Michigan homeowners pay for essential home repairs. In addition, qualified households can receive up to $15,000 to improve safety, accessibility, and deferred maintenance in their home.
How the Revive Home Repair Grant Process Works
- Confirm your Eligibility: Your household income must fall at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
- Submit Paperwork to Intandem Credit Union: Homeowners cannot apply directly to FHLBank Indianapolis.
- Gather Required Documents: You will need income documentation and at least two contractor bids that are required for submission.
- Submit your application: Intandem will submit your completed application to FHLBank Indianapolis for review.
- Grant decision: Intandem will review applications on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
- Complete repairs: If approved, repairs must be completed within six months of receiving funds
Do you qualify for Revive?
Revive Home Repair Grants are available to households who meet the following criteria.
Program Eligibility Requirements:
- Household income must be at or below 80% AMI.
- Eligible properties must be owner-occupied and may be 1-4 family homes, townhouses, condominiums, cooperatives or manufactured housing deeded as real estate.
- Existing mortgage and property tax obligations must be current and paid as agreed.
- Grant recipients sign an acknowledgement that identifies the contractor used for repairs.
- Household must work with an FHLBank Indianapolis member financial institution, such as Intandem Credit Union, to access funds.

What can Revive Home Repair Grant assist with?
Accessibility and Safety Repairs:
- Entry Ramps
- Entry Steps/Stairs
- Mold and/or mildew remediation
- Levered door handles
- Interior/Exterior handrails
- Widened doorways
- Internal Chair or Wheelchair lifts
- Toilet (ADA only)
- Relocation of washer/dryer from basement to main level of the home
- Shower Modifications/Grab Bars
Deferred Maintenance Repairs:
- HVAC systems and ductwork
- Siding
- Well or septic systems
- Roof and/or chimney
- Water Heater
- Gutters and downspouts
- Windows
- Exterior doors (including overhead garage)
- Soffit and Fascia
- Insulation or weatherization
- Sump-pump systems
- Ceiling and drywall repair (due to roof failure)
Before You Apply
Before you apply, review the requirements below to avoid delays:
- Proof of Household Income for all household members
- Documentation is required for every income source (paystubs, Social Security, pensions, etc.). Paystubs must cover at least 28 consecutive days.
- At Least Two Independent Contractor Bids
- Bids must be itemized, dated, include the contractor’s contact information, and clearly describe the work to be performed.
- Confirmation that Mortgage and Property Taxes are Current
- All existing mortgage and tax obligations must be paid as agreed or on a payment plan.
- Repairs are on the Approved List
- Only listed accessibility, safety, and deferred maintenance repairs are eligible. Repairs completed before approval cannot be reimbursed.
- Understanding Contractor Responsibility
- Homeowners choose and manage their contractor. Any disputes are between the homeowner and contractor.
Submit Your Revive Home Repair Grant Application
Both of the following must be completed and returned. Applications missing either form cannot be submitted for review.
What Happens After You’re Approved
- Grant funds are issued through Intandem Credit Union.
- Funds are typically paid directly to the contractor or jointly to the contractor and homeowner.
- Repairs must be completed within six (6) months of receiving funds.
- After repairs are completed, documentation showing payment to the contractor must be submitted.
Please note:
- Funds cannot be used for speculative or additional costs beyond the approved bids.
- If the selected bid is more than 30% higher than the other bid(s), additional explanation may be required.
- FHLBank Indianapolis does not communicate directly with homeowners regarding application status. All communication goes through Intandem Credit Union.
